Vase of Tulips

Check out my vase of tulips in semi-bloom.

Szezin got me a 3-bundle fresh-cut tulips on one rainy afternoon and I thought “Sweet! I’ll put them in the room! Yippe!”. While in KL my tulips wouldn’t last longer than 3 days, here I managed to keep them from bulbs to full bloom and in my room for almost 3 weeks!

Tips:

1. Cut off about 2 to 3 inches of the stems after you’ve got your bundles of fresh tulips.

2. Fill up a third of your vase with fresh cold water. Too much water soaking the stems will make them soggy.

3. Arrange your tulips nicely and enjoy. My room temperature in spring is around 10 to 14 degrees Celcius and it’s just nice for keeping the tulips alive longer.

4. Change the water in the vase every 2 days. Use only fresh cold water. In spring here, the water from the tap is just perfect.

Tulips of the Valley

April 30th, 2009

Sunday, April 26th 2009

We went to see the tulip festival at Maple Ridge after lunch at Harrison Hot Springs. It was a 40-acre tulip farm planted with tulips of all colors, and the mountains as the backdrop. The view was simply breathtaking.

I took lots of pictures; check out all of them from my photo album.
