Thank You…

October 22nd, 2009

Specially dedicated to my mom and dad… It’s all fruits of your labor. Thank you mom, dad. I love you both. Lots.

Mama, thank you for who I am

Thank you for all the things I’m not

Forgive me for the words unsaid

And for the times I forgot

Mama, remember all my life

You showed me love, you sacrificed

Think of those young and early days

How I’ve changed along the way, along the way

And I know you believed

And I know you had dreams

And I’m sorry it took all this time to see

And I am where I am because of your truth

And I miss you, I miss you…

Mama forgive the times you’ve cried

Forgive me for not making right

All of the storms I may have caused

And I’d been wrong, dry your eyes

Mama I hope this makes you smile

I hope you’re happy with my life

At peace with every choice I’ve made

How I changed along the way, along the way

Cos I know you believed

In all of my dreams

And I owe it all to you

Mama…

From the Faraway Down

October 16th, 2009

I know, I know. I have not blogged since forever ago. So I decided to spend a few minutes and go totally random here. ;)

First off, for my friends who’ve asked and wondered what the heck I’m up to right now, well thanks very much you guys, for asking. That’s quite very sweet :p

I’m very, very well. It’s just that a lot has been going on since I came here. I was so focused in getting things set up, and getting a couple of other things probably started as well. So there’s been no play, no going-out-every-weekend, no restaurants, no pictures, and as a result, no photo-blogging. When I go out, it would just be for meetings or running errands. Yep, no fun, no “life” for the past month or so. But “busy” would be an overstatement so I’ll stay away from that word for now.

Been rather rainy in Melbourne since I got here, and a little colder than usual for spring. But it’s alright. A lot of things about Melbourne reminds me of Vancouver. But the CBD doesn’t. Vancouver CBD is so small with slow foot traffic. Because it’s so small, it makes it “look” busy and that could be deceitful. Things have also been very productive since I got here, and a little beyond my expectations, actually.

Been getting around quite well too, purely relying on metlink (Metro Melbourne transit system — trains and trams), walking, a little driving, and… very importantly… the Google Map, Metlink and Tram Tracker apps on the iPhone. For a helpless navigator like myself (those of you who know me well, know that I have poor sense of directions), I wasn’t doing too shabby with the help of these apps.

So I’m addicted to this song Halo by Beyonce all of a sudden since I got here. It’s weird because when I was in Van, I always complained that it was way overplayed on the radio. So now on top of my iPod playlist is:

- Halo by Beyonce

- Gives You Hell by The All American Rejects

- I Told You So by Carrie Underwood

- Then by Brad Paisley

- Right Round by Flo Rida

- You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift

Being here makes me feel so much closer to home. Believe it or not, even more so than when I was living in KL. My aunt makes Chinese-Indonesian food almost everyday, and I’m trying hard to not go overboard. And I’m starting to see Indonesian restaurants everywhere here, unlike in Van where I think there are like 6 Indo eating places. There are lots of people who came here from Indonesia, and they even have free bulletins/tabloids for the Indo-Australian community here.

That’s it for now I guess. Will try to blog again soon. Cheers!

Remembering Grandma

October 5th, 2009

I had a dream about grandma last night.

Over the last few months I’d dreamed about her for at least twice. Occassionally she would come check on me in my dreams. Always makes me wonder how she would feel if she were to see us grow this much, big, and old??

Been almost 14 years and Grandma, I still remember you.

Love.
