The Conspiracy
Watched “The International” last week. It’s a movie about conspiracy of debts, money, and the government. I like the message it tried to deliver.
“They control your money. They control your government. They control your life. And everybody pays.”
And something I quoted from the movie (not in precise verbiage):
“It’s not about the profits. It’s about control. If they control your debt, they control you.”
At the end of the movie, we took a few seconds to think about the title, “The International”. The movie only primarily involved the US and Europe (from Berlin to Milan to New York and to Istanbul) with some mentions of China. Of course, that is “international” enough to some people (pun intended).
I’ve also recently finished up reading Conspiracy Of The Rich by Robert Kiyosaki. It’s pretty easy to read, and quite a number of repetitive sections (because the version I was reading was not the final). Basically it talks about things that are already known by many. Kiyosaki did a good job trying to deliver an often-ignored conspiracy/reality that could be easily understandable by every man on the street, by every average Joe and Jane like you and me; and to re-emphasize what most people tend to forget. If you have several hours, you may consider adding it to your “To Read” list.
Fruits for Thoughts
Went to PriceSmart Foods to grab some fruits today. A bunch of green grapes and about 1.2 pounds of apricots.

African Food at Simba’s Grill
Wednesday, July 15th 2009
Went to downtown in the afternoon and got there around 4pm. We had planned to have African food at Simba’s Grill on Denman St. today, but it wasn’t open till 4.30pm and I was kinda hungry, having only had a coffee and a chocolate chip cookie for the whole day, haha.
So we went to Dairy Queen to grab a little something while waiting for SImba’s Grill to open.
Had a diet pepsi, a little bit of onion rings and a few bites of chocolate/hot fudge sundae.
I just had a DQ Blizzard ice cream 2 days before, so fattening, LOL.
Around 4.45pm we got back to Simba’s Grill just next to DQ. It was our first African food experience.
I found that African food is quite close to Indian except they have a different kind of rice (rather long and skinny rice usually cooked with this yellow spice and some seed-like spice), and more barbeque stuff.
As a start, they serve 3 kinds of condiments sauce — yogurt, coconut sauce, and tamarind sauce — and 2 kinds of hot sauce that look like curry but taste spicy and it stings.
So I ordered a Kuku Choma (barbequed tender chicken served with rice and a small salad), and Sze-Zin got a jungle prawns in tomato curry.
Both dishes are YUMMER! The BBQ-ed chicken, although breasts, were quite tender and nicely spiced (I asked for spicy hot). The rice was great, and the jungle prawns especially, were huge and fresh. I just love having curry with rice. There’s just something about this combination. They are so compatible, a match made in food heaven!
Sweet Treats at True Confections
After our hotpot dinner at Whytecliff Park, a brilliant idea popped up which sounded soooo good, haha.
Let’s have cheesecake!
We went to True Confections on Denman St. downtown. That place was quite packed with people and I just knew it was gonna be good.
We had this tiramisu cheesecake for like $8 a slice, and it was worth every penny. It has 3 layers – mocha cheesecake, plain cheesecake, and tiramisu cake on the top, served with 3 generous scoops of super light whipped cream.
It was HEAVENLY SINFUL!
I also ordered a cuppa cappucino. Very yummy.
It was one of the better cheesecakes we’ve had. Really good. Food and dining in Vancouver has never disappointed me.
