We changed our minds about going hiking at Lynn Valley today, and went farm berries hunting instead. Yay!
Strawberry season is almost over, and this was pretty much the last bunches for local BC strawberries. I’ve had quite a bit of Californian strawberries but of course those cannot compare to the local ones. So…
First stop, the Blueberry Store.

Oddly enough, they didn’t have any fresh blueberries as they were not really in season yet until another couple of weeks. All they had were a few boxes of fresh local strawberries left. So we grabbed a basket of 1.5 pounds for $5.

Next stop, Surrey Farms.

They had a lot of produce going on for sale, but we didn’t really buy anything from here. Decided to move on to check out the other farm stores for more berries.

We bought a box of raspberries and cherries from this place.

Yeap, I thought we were done with berries shopping. We’ll come back for more when the other berries are in season. Blueberries, blackberries, golden berries and stuff. I’m waiting for those.
Went home, finished all the berries and cherries on that day.
Look at me =P

Went grocery shopping today. It’s all about food.
Bought 6 pieces of cake: strawberry, mango, and coffee cakes, black forests, and a mixed swiss roll.
Old Town White Coffee. YES! Ipoh Old Town White Coffee from Malaysia!!! We bought a pack of 15′s.
Silhoutte yoghurt with 0% fat (so they say). We bought a pack of 12 with 4 flavours – strawberry, blueberry, raspberry and peach. I had the strawberry yoghurt together with some fresh Californian strawberries.

Korean prawn chips. This is the best kind I’ve tried here so far.

Came home and enjoyed my yoghurt with fresh strawberries, watching Wall Street on DVD. Simple, pleasant, and relaxing way of spending a Friday night in.

We planned to have lunch at Londsdale Quay today, and stopped by at the New Westminster Pier to check out what it’s all about.

Not much, really. So we stayed there just for a few minutes before heading out again.
We went to Londsdale Quay and they were having farmer’s market. We bought a box of red cherries and another box of rainier cherries.

The outdoor of Londsdale Quay was merry with the sound of Latin music as people gathered around below the stage and Latin-danced away. I was so tempted to just jump in and dance! But I decided to stay at the bench, enjoyed the breeze and the view, and our little boxes of cherries.

We went to the market to grab something for lunch. Ended up buying a salmon roll, seaweed salad, and some smoked prawns from the seafood bar. We sat outside to eat, which was kinda nice. I couldn’t resist to take some pictures of the abundant fruits variety at the market.

It was kinda rainy and misty today, which made it a little bit chilly. I love it.
We wanted to go to Bavarian Haus on 6th St. New Westminster for Dutch food dinner in the evening, but we found out that the restaurant was fully booked because they have some kind of specials on their menu on Wednesdays. So Indian curry was the next thing that popped out of my mind, and we headed to Royal Tandoori down the road.
We ordered a briyani chicken, a lamb curry, and a couple pieces of roti. I made a special request to have everything served extra HOT. I was hoping they wouldn’t let me down.
They didn’t. It was spicy indeed. And the food tasted fabulous. All in all a very good dinner.

Yummy Glazed Roti
The roti was glazed and smelled so crispy and yummy. I knew from seeing and smelling it that it was gonna be awesome. I was right. I had to dab it on the napkins before eating though, to get rid of the excessive oil.
After dinner, we went to Pricesmart Foods and grabbed a Santa Claus melon before heading back.
